Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter Checks Curiosity's Trek
December 09, 2015
The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter took this photo of the Curiosity rover in September 2015, during an exciting traverse of Mars. Curiosity was exploring the boundary between two rock units: the light-toned Murray Formation and the overlying and darker-toned Stimson unit. We can clearly see the rover in a complex terrain marked by rocks of different colors, which on the surface, can correspond to the contact between rock units and dark sand.
